What Does an End of Tenancy Cleaning Service Include?

Moving out in days, not weeks? Read this first. Your deposit depends on it.

Your tenancy is ending. The inventory check is coming. The landlord or agent will go through every room with a checklist, and anything missed can come straight out of your deposit.

Common Issues Customers Face

These are the problems we see again and again, and they are the ones that cost people money:

  1. Left too late. Cleaners are booked out at month-end. Leave it to the last 48 hours and you may not get a slot.

  2. Baked-on oven grease. Years of build-up that ordinary products will not shift.

  3. Limescale and mould in bathrooms. Hard water marks and black mould in sealant are among the top deposit deductions.

  4. Dirty carpets and stains. Marks that were not there at check-in are the tenant's responsibility.

  5. Forgotten areas. Inside cupboards, behind appliances, extractor filters, window tracks and skirting boards.

  6. Smells. Pet odours, smoke or damp that linger after the obvious dirt is gone.

  7. Disputes with the landlord or agent. Unclear expectations about what "professionally clean" means.

  8. Appliances that cannot be moved or accessed safely. Heavy cookers, built-in units and wired appliances.

Electrical and Appliance Safety: Read This

Cleaning around electrics is where people get hurt. Please take this seriously.

  • Never spray or pour liquids on or near sockets, switches, fuse boxes, extractor fans or hard-wired appliances.

  • Never clean inside or behind appliances while they are plugged in or switched on. Isolate them first, and only where it is safe to do so.

  • Do not remove covers, panels, plates or fittings. If something needs opening or disconnecting, that is a job for a qualified person, not a cleaner or a tenant.

  • Do not attempt to move heavy or hard-wired appliances yourself. Gas cookers and built-in ovens must only be disconnected and reconnected by a qualified, registered engineer.

  • If you see scorch marks, hear buzzing, smell burning or find damaged cables or sockets, stop. Do not use the item or clean around it. Report it to your landlord or a qualified electrician.

  • If you smell gas, leave the property and call the national gas emergency number immediately. Do not operate switches.

Our team follows safe working practice around electrical items. We clean external and accessible surfaces only, and we do not dismantle, repair or tamper with electrical or gas equipment.

Why Not Do It Yourself?

You can, but a missed spot can mean a deduction. Many agents expect a professional standard, and some tenancy agreements ask for receipts. Strong cleaning products can also be hazardous if misused, especially when different products are combined or used in poor ventilation. A professional team has the right products, equipment and training, so you do not have to take the risk.
